About the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance

The Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance is a national coalition of 150 organizations representing growers of fruits, vegetables, dried fruit, tree nuts, nursery plants and other products. The Alliance was established to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crop agriculture and improve the health of Americans by broadening the scope of U.S. agricultural public policy.

Addressing the critical needs of the specialty crop industry, this program awards competitive grants to support research and extension to help solve challenges of national, regional, and multistate importance.

Nine in ten Americans do not consume fruits and vegetables in the amounts recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). Structuring Farm Bill nutrition programs to address the underconsumption of DGA recommendations can both support the nutrition needs of Americans and improve market opportunities for specialty crops.
